Introduction:
Key word: ------> DMGeant
which means "DetectorModel
to Geant interface".
The DetectorModel to Geant interface defines the detector geometry for
GEANT, by extracting the material and the geometry information from the
DetectorModel based description of the detector.
The GEANT geometry is then produced via EucIntfce package.
For GEANT3 this means the production of a call list file which has then
to be read in by BBSIM.
SVT implementation of the DetectorModel
to GEANT interface:
Packages ( available via CVS):
AbsDMGeant provides
the abstract interface that should be eventually used by all the subdetectors.
Svt DMGeant contains
the SVT specific class.
- - implements the SVT specific functions for translating the material
description;
- - implements the SVT specific definition of tracking media;
- - implements the SVT specific functions for translating the SVT geometry.
Geometry translation:
this translation required some small changes into SvtGeom ( the SVT
package which defines the
geometry used in reconstruction using DetectorModel).
At present there's a first version which translate wafers,
ribs, support bars
and rings volumes ( all the volumes in
the Svt detector as described in SvtGeom) and position
them in the global reference frame.
The corresponding call list file svt_call_list.dat
is produced with all the needed information.
Next (immediate) steps:
- check the consistency of what done until now,
comparing with the dbio generated geometry.
.
........ then:
- add the volumes not yet described in SvtGeom
and the corresponding space information;
- complete the material, mixture and tracking
media description;
- validate the complete SVT description obtained
via SvtDMGeant versus the one obtained via gnssvd.
